Orville married Edith Durr in 1936; the license for his next marriage, to Pauline (Domer) Stauffer (b. 1911, d. 1996), in March 1945, gives that he was divorced from Edith just a month earlier (in February 1945). That same record gives the date of Pauline's divorce from her first husband (Robert Stauffer) as 31 Dec 1941.

Pauline's headstone has her name engraved as "Pauline Domer Stauffer," and her obituary names four surviving children, though does not give surnames for any of the four children nor mention any spouse, surviving or preceding her in death. Of those four children, two of them (Robert and Nancy) can be found with her and her first husband in the 1940 US Census, though if their divorce really occurred not much more than a year after that census record, it is difficult to determine whether the remaining two surviving children name in her obituary (Jerry and Donna) are from her first marriage or from her second, to Orville. The lack of any spouse, and the return of her previous married name, strongly suggests that Pauline and Orville did not remain married, though what ended their marriage and after how long a time is undetermined at this point.

It should be noted that his birthdate was recorded with the incorrect year on his marriage license to Edith - the date was written correctly (13 Jun), and his age was noted correctly on that same line (twenty-eight), but the year of his birthdate was written as 1918, not 1907.

It should also be noted that, in the 1940 US Census, Orville was living with his mother and younger brother in Bluffton, Wells Cty, Indiana, with his marital status given as "divorced." At that time, Edith was living with her younger sister Mary and with her son from her marriage to Orville, David Aker, in Flint, Genesee Cty, Michigan, with her status given as "married."

Other than David, I am unable to determine if Orville had any other children; David's obituary from 2004 does not mention his parents, nor any siblings.
