Weible, Anna

Birth Name Weible, Anna

Thomas family documentation seems to spell her surname as "Wieble" or "Weble." Additionally, her given name varies in that same documentation as "Ann" or "Anne" instead of "Anna."

In _The History of Tuscarawas County, Ohio_, the name is consistently spelled "Weible," except for one instance of "Wible."

The book _Christian Metzger: Founder of an American Family 1682-1942_, which documents this family and its lines very thoroughly, is quite clear on the spelling of "Weible." It has been suggested that the proper Swiss spelling may well have been "Weibel."

Narrative

[Excerpt from Christian Metzger: Founder of an American Family 1682-1942, p182.]

v. Anna Weible, b. __ 1816, m. __ 1840, David Thomas of Canal Dover. He was the brother of Anna Thomas who married John Weible, (double and twisted). Not long after Anna Weible married David Thomas they moved to Roanoke, Wells Co., Indiana, where he joined the United Brethren Conference in that section and became an untiring and conscientious minister of the Gospel.

[Editing note: David and Anna actually married in 24 Mar 1842 in Tuscarawas Cty, Ohio, and settled in Union Twp, Wells Cty, Indiana in 1847, prior to the birth of their fourth child, Mary. The text excerpt above misidentifies their residence as Roanoke likely because the nearest established postal stop at the time was in nearby Roanoke, Huntington Cty, Indiana, just several miles away.]
