Narrative
Ann's husband, Lewis Jennings, was over twenty years her senior and had children from his first marriage that were not much younger than Ann. The only child that has appeared within the scope of their marriage is Lulu, who is listed in the 1900 US Census in her mother Ann's household as "raised," not noted as a daughter. Her birth year was 1884, fifteen years after Ann and Lewis married and when Ann would have been thirty-five and Lewis about fifty-seven. While it's possible that Lulu is a born child of Ann and Lewis, evidence suggests she was more likely adopted. Jim Flack notes that Lulu's surname may be Davis, not Jennings.
Lulu married William Homer Jacobs in 1901, and died in 1904. She appears to have had one son, Carl Howard Jacobs, born around 1903; Lulu may well have died in childbirth.
In the 1910 US Census, Ann is listed as living with William H. Jacobs, called mother-in-law and head-of-household, respectively. Also living with them is William's seven-year-old son, Carl.
